I went in search of some answers and found a serpent in a box
Tried the doors to the castle, they were covered in locks
Saw a crowd in the distance beneath an iridescent glow
It seems they'd all congregated to watch magic at the show

I pushed my way through the rabble to the corner of the stage
To catch a glimpse of the princess with the spectre in the cage
Left her to her strange devices, found a short-cut through the wings
To find a hydra 'neath the curtain that was pulling on the strings

Not sure if I'm just dreaming or I'm already dead
Can't seem to find the exit without Ariadnae's thread

I felt the fortune teller's fingers as she drew me to her tent
There she told me of the future, how the empires came and went
She said to look into the atom and the passage of the stars
So I could lift the veil of Venus and the buckler shield of Mars

Not sure if I'm just dreaming or I'm already dead
Can't seem to find the exit without Ariadnae's thread

I stumbled out through the curtains with my psyche in a daze
To catch the banker hiding gold coins in the Minotaur's maze
He told me "God proclaimed I do this, please believe me that's no lie"
And then he fled into the darkness with a glimmer in his eye
